This project's great success can be summed up in a single phrase:

'Jim really listened – and cared.'

A new 7,500 sf country residence that occupies the former site of a 19th century timber framed banked barn overlooking a natural wetland and pond in northeast Pennsylvania. The design strategy from the beginning was to recycle barn components into the house while siting the house on the barn site to have full view of the wildlife in the surrounding fields, woods, wetlands and pond. To this end, the house is designed to respect the neighboring vernacular farm architecture while meeting the client's wish that the house be spacious, full of natural light, be fully accessible on the main living level and accentuate a prized antique furniture collection.
